Construction of German Steel Mill to be in Mobile AL

New Steel Mill is good news for Mobile AL residents

Earlier this month Mobile
Alabama
was named by German Steel company ThyssenKrupp AG to be the site of
their next steel mill, beating out over 50 other possible sites including cities
in Louisiana. The existence of the steel
mill in Mobile AL is expected to increase the level of economic activity by $965
million a year. This could be great news
for those living or intending on moving to Alabama as the steel mill is
projected to generate 7,000 direct and indirect jobs once it is in
operation.

This new mill will import
unfinished steel slabs produced in Brazil to the Mobile AL location to be
refined into auto parts and appliances.
The steel mill will be built on 86 acres in north Mobile at the former
International Paper site.  Operations expected
to begin in 2010.
