Mobile & Baldwin Counties to Benefit the most from Steel Plant

a promising economic future for Mobile and Baldwin Counties

The Steel Mill expected to be built in Mobile Alabama was recently
reported by the Mobile Chamber of Commerce to greatly benefit Mobile and
Baldwin Counties economically. From a
recent report given by Alabama state development officials, 11 percent of wages
and expenses paid by the steel plant will go to Baldwin County and more than 50
percent will go to Mobile County.

Though this report is not complete, it has been beneficial
in helping these counties understand the impact of the plant and to let the
surrounding local governments in on how much they will profit as well.  Mobile County hopes that some of these local
governments will come together to generate about $20 million of the $83.5
million incentives package for ThyssenKrupp.
The steel plant’s promising future should be more than enough enticement
to get the ball rolling.
