Daphne AL Public Library looking to Expand for Public Need

Interviews conducted with Daphne residents revealed that the public was in agreement once they understood the need.

The Daphne Public Library Board is planning on expanding the
current Library building in Daphne Alabama. The additions and updates are expected to cost around $7 million.

To understand what the public opinion was about this
expansion, Howard Benson, president and CEO of the National Community
Development Services Inc. (NCDS), paired with his team to conduct a survey of
local residents. The residents were
asked if they were aware that the Library was in need of expansion and that it
did not meet the state standards for a library’s inventory and other related aspects. A Baldwin County Now article reported that
most of the residents were not aware of this and were in support of the updates
to the library after they understood the need.

Library director Tonja Young is currently looking for ways
of funding this project from grants to fundraising campaigns so that they
updates will come to fruition in the coming years.
