The Commercial area will be annexed into Mobile, but the three residential areas remain outside of the city limits

The results of last Tuesdays Annexation vote for Mobile
Alabama saw one out of the four areas pass. The largest area was annexed into the City of Mobile, as this was a
commercial area. However, the three
residential areas did not opt to annex. 

Many of the residents of West Mobile residential areas were hesitant
to go along with the annexation plan, seeing this as more of an expense than
assistance to their cause. Also, as
Coastal Alabama TV online mentions, the Public Relations attempts by the local
leaders may have caused a negative view on the plan more than anything. Thus, the results of this vote may not have
been altogether unexpected.
