Dauphin Island Looks into Buying Land for a Public Beach

The development of the land will likely be delayed while they plan

Dauphin Island, Alabama wants to purchase land on the
undeveloped west end of Bienville Boulevard for offering a public beach to
attract more business to the area during ‘vacationing’ season; the town’s plans
include a parking lot, tiki huts for retailers, and restrooms, and to have it all
open for the public by Memorial Day weekend. Most of the land along this western end is owned by private homeowners
and the estimated price of purchasing is $1.75 million.

Nevertheless, the Memorial Day opening will likely be
delayed as there are some environmental issues to look into before they would
be able to develop the land, as well as gain the necessary permits.
