Mobile’s Reputation Flourishes
More accolades for the Mobile metro area
Did you know that there is more to Mobile’s current business growth than the $40 billion air tanker project? Granted, it is huge news for our area, but you may not be aware of some of the other recent accomplishments for our fair city. Don’t forget about German steelmaker ThyssenKrupp’s $3.7 billion plant currently under construction. According to the Mobile Area Chamber of Commerce, there are roughly 30 major foreign companies employing over 6,000 workers in our area, even before these new projects are fully staffed.
In large part due to these economic successes, Business 2.0 and MoodysEconomy.com has ranked Mobile number 7 in the U.S. for cities poised to experience a real-estate "bounce back". They predict a 4.7% growth in median prices for single family homes, from Q1 2008 to Q4 2009.
It’s good to know that, in spite of the influx of new residents and businesses, a recent survey ranked our city as one of the top five most "polite" cities in the nation! Way to go, Mobilians!
