Construction plans to extend the Foley Beach Express north to Interstate 10 may commence in the next few months. Funds set aside for the project from combined sources (i.e. federal, county, and state) equals approximately $50 million, with the first 2-mile phase estimated to cost $4 million; the state Department of Transportation will soon chose the lowest bidder and notify the county to move the project forward.
