New Construction Starts Reflect National Trend

Local declines in home building starts and building permits reflect what’s going on statewide and nationally. Mobile County had the smallest decrease in major markets across Alabama. Single family permits in Mobile dropped from 1,182 in June ‘07 to 895 in June ‘08, a 24.3% drop. Compare this to Montgomery, the hardest hit with a 49.6% drop in permits. The statewide drop was 36.2%, which is lower than the U.S. average of 41.5%. For more information on real estate in Mobile County or Baldwin County, visit http://barbarareevesrealtor.com.
