Planned Housing Development in Spanish Fort Alabama Approved
The planned Cypress Point project just north of Spanish Fort Alabama, was finally given the ‘go ahead’ from the County Commission this week. After a few months of setbacks, the rustic cottages and condo tower project that is Cypress Point was approved by the County Commission with the changes made. The original plan presented included 470 units in five condo towers, but it was revised to include 300 one and two story country cottages that would be elevated on piers, 100 condo units, a restaurant, store, and dry boat storage and marina that will occupy about 112 boats. The needed zoning changes were also approved for single family residents and the project will move forward in the coming year. City officials feel that this design combination of single family residents and condos will be more compatible with the country feel of the area and be an attractive addition to the Spanish Fort Alabama area.
