Daphne AL may have a Smoking Ordinance in the Near Future

Daphne took a look at Foley AL's smoking ordinance to decide what would work better in Daphne

Daphne’s ordinance committee has recently been
looking at Foley AL for a model of how to establish a smoking ordinance in the
city. The ordinance discussed will place
limits on cigarette smoking within the city of Daphne Alabama.

The committee reviewed Foley’s smoking ordinance and
made suggestions on how to institute it in Daphne. This smoking ordinance will prohibit smoking
within 20 feet of the main entrance of any public establishment, smoking
exceptions will be allowed for Daphne Civic Center rentals when private
organizations have an approved liquor exception (e.g. Mardi Gras balls), and it
will be prohibited in all city-owned enclosed areas; the committee has not
discussed how public parks will fit into this yet, however. Although Foley enforces their smoking
ordinance via the city clerk or an administrator, Daphne ordinance committee
members have decided that the Daphne Police Department will enforce it for more
efficiency.

Nevertheless, the smoking ordinance must still go to
the City council for a vote on its approval or denial.
